Crib Bedding Update!

Thank you to whomever lit a candle this morning to the Virgincita because we have found our bedding! I told G to call the GAP at The Grove today to ask if they had any, since they're suppose to carry the entire nursery collection, AND they DID have it!!!!!! WOO-HOO!! I had asked G to do this back in June but he never did. So I reminded him. I can't believe they actually had it! I guess I coulda called but since he works there....it's easier for him. Whatever. It's on hold and we are heading over there when I get off work to buy it! I can't wait! I gotta find my camera!

I love that everything is just falling into place for us. First the car seat....we just happen to stroll into Babies R Us to check out our other car seat options and what do you know...there is a whole new stock of our beloved recalled-base car seat with the right base. So happy! We bought it right away. And now the bedding just happens to be sitting at The Grove waiting for us. Assome. I'm so happy right now!

Crib

We are slowly chipping away at the baby's room since the move. We finally got it clear of boxes and my parents brought the crib and mattress over. Here it is all done with a blanket my mom got us that matches our Safari theme and a little giraffe that my friend A got us.

It's finally gonna start coming together! Tonight G will build the glider and matching ottoman. As for our bedding....well...please light a candle tot he Virgincita that GAP stocks the safari bedding by at least the end of the month! I am sooo willing to wait but it's getting harder.

Work Shower!

I knew something was up! I got to our work lunch and the conference room was a decked out in Noah's Ark decor. It was really cute. My boss said it was his first baby shower (and he's an old guy!), and my cousin Chris won the "guess how big my belly is" game without even trying.

We had some great food catered in by "El Portal" (handmade tortillas for carne asada, carnitas or chicken tacos and all the fixings). Our housekeepers are super sweet and bought me gifts! Got some diapers, washcloths, onesies, hot/cold police rubber ducky, fetal sounds bear, and a Target gift card. I totally wasn't expecting anything so it was nice to get some stuff. And another CW said she ordered us a copy of the "Happiest Baby on the Block" dvd. Said it saved her daughter from a colicky baby.

Good times

When I came h ome I went thru and sorted all the baby clothes we have received at our showers. It is soooo much! I made stacks for sizes. Starting with newborn, 0-3, 3, 3-6, 6, 6-9, 6-12, 9, 9-12, and one 18m outfit. It's a lot and not even counting the clothes G has bought at work along the way. I guess the next thing to do is wash it all! Actually looking forward to doing that. I'm also gonna picked up a ton of baby clothes hangers at Target when I go tonight. Fun!

36 weeks: "The 4th Quarter"

"Dude, we're at a football game, and it's the FREAKING 4th QUARTER! Time to sober up and get our sh*t together and get ready to go!"

Someone on the message board I frequent said this yesterday. I think she was talking about the 3rd trimester in general, but for me...this is how I feel about the last month...the final 4 weeks. And trust me, there is a lot of sh*t that needs to come together before this baby is born.

Today would not be a good start for that. I ended up staying home from work. I just felt like I had been run over. Last night, I watched and half-ass helped my mom and cousin unpack our kitchen and clean and put everything away. My dad also made himself busy putting boxes in empty closets and breaking down empty boxes. G made himself busy in our bedroom putting away clothes and shoes. And I watched and directed and have never felt more tired in my life. I can sooooo feel how different these last 4 weeks are going to be. I'm so tired. Way more tired....and all the damn time.

I was so tired last night and my feet were so painfully swollen that I cried when I went to bed. I had never felt so exhausted. Poor G, he always feels so helpless when I cry. But nothing was wrong, I was just tired. And the more I told myself not to cry the more the tears that welled up in my eyes. So today I am home. I just couldn't get myself up for work. Especially since I actually slept, something that hardly happens these days. But those damn upstairs neighbors had me up early with their loud ass steps and dropping shit.

But I do have to go to work later. There's a lunch thing and my CW has been making sure everyday I will be at work for it. Then when I told my cousin I wouldn't be in this morning but would go for the lunch he texts me back with, "you better be here for the lunch. wink wink." So yeah....somethings going on.

I also really wanted to blog about my baby shower this Saturday. But I want to do it with pictures. I need to get them from my brother though. He was our official photog. Looks like that post will have to wait another day.

So it's the 4th quarter ladies and gentlemen. Here we are....and I can't really say "finally" because it all just flew by for me. But I am mentally and emotionally ready. Everything else isn't. But things are falling into place. The baby's room is almost 100% clear of boxes. Babies R Us called yesterday that our crib and mattress are ready for pick-up. We have the glider and ottoman ready to be built. No bedding. :-( Gap has yet to re-stock our beloved bedding. And I am holding out for this! I will wait till the end of the month and then get overnight shipping. I've waited this long [sold out end of May].

We have a check for the carseat. We'll be buying that this weekend. Most likely get the stroller too. Although now I'm really unsure about our choices. I think I want I different carseat and a different stroller. Not a travel system that is all big and bulky, but maybe just a good carseat and a snap n go. Then we can get a cool maclaren stroller or something for when the baby can sit up and outgrows the carseat. Moms out here, any opinions?

Still so much to do! I think I'll go make myself happy by sorting thru all the cute baby clothes we got at our shower. That always makes me happy!

Question

Is this boyish enough?

G and I both really loved this bedding from BRU. We saw it in person and it looks fabulous on the dark wood crib we're ordering. G is just a little worried it isn't boyish enough. What do you guys think?

The only reason I ask is because just as I was ready to order the Safari bedding from Gap, the bitch sold out. I'm willing to wait for more, but what if it's not anytime soon? So this is just a back up.

Please comment and let me know what you think.

Nursery

So I've been trying to decide on the bedding for Baby G so that I can figure out everything else [like the color scheme and such], but I'm having a hard time. I have narrowed it down to 2 and I need your help! These are 2 completely different beddings with completely different color schemes. I am partial to the first set. But G is not very geometrical and seems to only like stuff with animals. Like it's more boyish to him. I totally love both sets. But I'd like to hear some opinions. Here are the 2:

#1

#2

Both beddings cost about the same, BUT we could get 30% off #2 because it is from Baby Gap's new nursery line. So that's a plus. #1 would be purchased from Land of Nod [owned by Crate and Barrel]. I also still want a white crib, but G doesn't think it's very masculine. Do you think the Safari bedding would go with a dark wood crib? It wouldn't be too dark? Our home furnishings are all dark wood, but I like the white crib for babies. Please comment!

I've also been working on our registry and that shit is hard! There is so much!

And just for fun, these are the mobiles I am considering.

One of these 2 for bedding #1.

And this one for bedding #2.

Both mobiles are from moderntots.com

16 weeks 4 days

I received my diaper bag yesterday and I LOVE IT! It's huge and has tons of space. I'm really glad I got it. G liked it too.

So now that I'm in my 17th week, I'm totally feeling the baby more. It's not kicks or anything, just more of the flutters and bubbles feeling I was already feeling. Sometimes it almost feels like something rubbed against my skin, but from the inside! It's so weird but cool. I feel it a lot in the morning when I'm sitting at my desk.

On the not so bright side, I still have morning sickness!!!! And it returned full force this week. Sucks. I actually threw up at work yesterday for the first time. I threw up twice in the morning yesterday, which I had never done! I'm really losing hope that this will ever go away. Also on this not so bright side, more stretch marks!! ARGH! I need to just accept them, but it sucks because they turn red within a day.
