Gender Issues

So we had our final u/s this morning and the good news is he is head down and I don't have a gigantic baby. Doc estimates around 6lbs right now. The not so great news that could be nothing but we still can't help to focus on is that...well here's the conversation:

Doc: So it's a girl, right?
Me: Ummm...no...you said it was a boy...
Doc: Oh! well then it must be. The machine is just saying it's a girl.
Me: Huh? So it's not a boy?
Doc: I'll check right now to make sure.
G: [trying to pick jaw off the floor]
Doc: Well it's too tough to see anything. Things are tight now. But if I said boy then it is. I've rarely been wrong.
Me: Well the big u/s gave us a damn clear picture.
Doc: Then don't worry. The machine assumes girl when it can't see anything else. He is really squished in there right now. So don't worry.

So now we can't stop thinking that we might have a surprise after all! And our room is sooo not gender neutral. Now all the cute last minute boy stuff I wanted to buy I'm having second thoughts about. Maybe I should wait? I'm thinking happy boy thoughts. That big u/s picture was too clear to not be a boy. I'm not buying it....for now.

I am really trying so freakin hard not to think that it might not be a boy. But come on! We have so much boy stuff! G was soo looking forward to this appt. Poor guy. Obviously a healthy baby is first, but still. Plus, that big u/s pic is so clearly a boy. Crazy doctor. I even forgot to ask her if I should work up until my due date.

In other news, everything else was good. I gained 3lbs in 2 weeks bringing my total to 16lbs. I am now going weekly, but my internals don't start till next week.

And last, here I am last night at 36w4d. Cell phone pic since I couldn't find my camera. with weird shiny eyes.

Update!

Instead of reading other blogs, I should be posting in my own!

First, and most important, I passed the 3-hour glucose test! Woo-hoo! I didn't find out till our appt. Doc said I most likely failed the 1-hour because my body is processing sugar slower, but not slow enough to be considered diabetic. So yay!

Second, I only gained 1 more lb! I am now up to a total of 11lbs for this pregnancy.

Third, I have a belly shot! But my friggin camera...no....my friggin work computer won't read my camera USB! So I can't upload it. But fear not kids! I took one with my phone. :DTotally growing! I can feel Baby G getting heavier in there. Now that he actually has some fat on him. So cute!

Fourth, I finally signed G and I up for Lamaze classes. I wasn't sure I even wanted to do this, but in the end I left it up to G since he would benefit the most from it. I need a good coach after all! So he said yes. I was lucky to find a class with an opening. Classes start next Thursday. It's gonna be every Thursday for 5 weeks, from 6:30pm - 9:30pm. The best part about this class is that we also get certified in infant CPR.

What else....hmmmm....I know! I must say that weeks 26-29 [even 30 I'm sure] have been the most amazing weeks in terms of fetal movement. Baby G has been kicking up a storm in there. He moves soooo much! He does have his quiet days where he regains his strength, but then we have like 4 straight days of crazy movement. Nothing really pokes out yet, just a lot of jumps and waves when you look at my belly.

My niece, Natalie, finally saw and felt my belly move. I think it freaked her out a little. She is 3 after all. But now she really believes there's something in there. So when she see's me she lifts my shirt to say hi to the baby. So cute! This same day that Natalie felt Baby G, so did my sister, mom, and dad. It was a very active day.

This is something I will definitely miss once Baby G is out. I won't miss being pregnant as much as I'll miss these super active days.

19 weeks

We're growing! Been feeling pretty good these days. Except for that bit of insomnia Saturday night. Baby G has been moving a lot this week. I'm hoping soon I'll be able to feel it with my hand so that G can feel it too.

One thing that I'm trying to not get concerned about is this crazy pressure I've been feeling on the lower part of my belly. I've been feeling pressure at the front of my belly/uterus. A bit down low. I started feeling it two nights ago and again yesterday, and I totally noticed it changed my center of gravity. I felt like I was being pulled forward or downward by it. It's weird. Anyone feel this ever? I've been feeling it today too throughout the day. No pain...just an uncomfortable feeling. I haven't noticed any pattern, but wouldn't it be too early for braxton hicks contractions? I hope so. I'll definitely monitor and if anything changes call my doc.

On Saturday I'll be 20 weeks. Half way there! I can't believe how fast time is flying by now. I had a bit of concern yesterday because I hadn't really felt like planning or getting ready for this baby. I don't know why, but I just haven't been all over the whole registering and picking out names and such. Feels like it's so far away till we need this stuff. We will probably have more than one shower so I have to do this. But I feel so much pressure to choose. It's crazy! I've never felt this way. Like the name thing. It's killing me. The pressure on actually naming a person. I mean I've been thinking up baby names forever, but now it's so real it's scares me. I kept freaking out at the randomest things. So not like me. I think that after our "big ultrasound" next week I'll start to feel different. Maybe more excited and willing to start planning ahead. Especially if we are lucky enough to see our baby's "goods" and find out what we're having. Can't wait for next Thursday!

Random thoughts continued...

- Looking at the floating baby on the right of this page, and I can't believe how big it's getting! I mean it looks totally human now. So cool to think that's happening in my belly.

- I'm getting girl scout cookies!!!! I now owe my first born to my forever BFF Jackie. Take good care of my little one! ;)

- I sported my growing belly in a Lakers jersey last night at the game. Good times.

- We didn't get DirectTV [stupid apt building] but we have cable and a shiny new HDTV.

- I think I felt the baby kick me for the first time today. It was just a stronger feeling than before. Like a jab to my belly. These maternity jeans are too tight when I sit :( and I think baby is po'd it's taking up his/her's precious space.

- I have a new belly pic! I'll upload tomorrow.

- I've been neglecting this blog because I'm giving my love to my non-baby blog. I don't know how it's gonna be when i have more than one kid....sorta scares me.

- I think a giant piece of chocolate cake I had Saturday kept me up all night. I had insomnia till somewhere in the 4am hour. It was horrible! Made me all emotional and G had to suffer thru it too. Thanks babe for staying awake with me!

Belly Picture Updates!

I haven't had time to upload my belly pics, but I have been taking them! So let's get right to it.

Here I am at 17 weeks 1 day. The second pic is me trying to suck it in. My belly looks sorta pointy to me in the first one.

And here is 18 weeks. I was wearing that first shirt to a party and everyone felt the need to tell me I must be having twins, because I was showing so much. Honestly, looking at these pics I think it was the shirt. So I took off the shirt and took a pic in my tank [belly not as round] and then another in my PJ's t-shirt [belly looking round again].

So what do you guys think? Am I big for 4.5 months? I don't know. I like finally having a real belly and not just looking fat.

And since I never posted an update to our doctor's appointment last Thursday, here it goes. Everything went great. I have only gained 5 lbs! Great news as I thought I might be closer to 10lbs. My doc was pleased with this. She also said my uterus was up to my belly button which is where it should be. We listened to the baby's heart with the doppler. I also got cleared to start exercising 3x - 30 min walks. On the not so bright side, no sex till 20 weeks. After almost 4 months I don't think another 2 weeks is that big of a deal.

We are also proud to announce that in 3 weeks [March 20th] we will have our "big" ultrasound and will hopefully be finding out the sex of the baby! Yay! We can't wait. But don't start asking about names because we don't plan to tell. We don't want to name our baby until he or she is born. We'll most likely narrow it down to 2 names, but we won't be sharing. I want to keep something a surprise. Sorry folks. :)

Baby is moving!

OMG! I had about 1/4 of a coke at my mom's house at lunch time because I started feeling really nauseous. About 5 minutes later I started feeling a lot of movement on my left side and it hasn't stopped. It is so much stronger than what I felt before. I know I have felt this maybe once or twice, but was never sure if it was the baby, but today I am so sure! It's crazy! I'm so excited that this phase is starting.

I have some belly shots to post, but I have to plug in my camera and all that. So I'll do it later in a new post. :)
