38 week appointment update

No. further. progress.

Still 1cm and barely thinning. So much for those contractions. Doc says this will definitely be an August baby. Although we all know that labor is a mysterious thing that can happen at any moment no matter what the odds. So we'll see!

I am still having contractions on and off. Although non today. And it's not like I'm even taking it easy. I am out and about doing things everyday. So I am walking and still no progress. So now I really won't be taking it easy. We are totally ready to meet baby G! And totally ready to not keep his name a secret! It's such a build up....not like there could be a disappointment.

The next part is a total rant. I bought this customized print for baby G's room. It's the alphabet in brown letters and then within the alphabet [and in different colors that match his room] is his name. His name pops off the print. So I go to buy a frame only to realized that no such size frame is made. Fuckityfuck. You know what that means....custom framing....and you know what that means...money...lots of it. That print is now at Aaron Brother's getting custom framed. We went the cheaper route [if you can even call it that] and got a big frame and are custom matting the print. Then they have to throw in the special glass and all that shit they sell you on. I just said yes. So I am now paying 3 times more than I thought I should. Moral of the story: don't buy odd shaped prints if you're tight on money.

Baby Safari Nursery Bedding

The safari bedding has won by a landslide! Don't get me wrong guys, I love it too. I just had a different picture in my head. So last night G and I decided to get the bedding and go with the dark wood furniture. Yay! Can't wait to start getting stuff and seeing the room come together. Thanks to all who voted! Oh! And I will be getting the monkey mobile. But I'll order that later on.

And an update from yesterday. I had my 3-hour glucose test in the morning. I was at that damn lab for almost 4 hours! So effing boring...even with my book. I had the orange drink this time. I'm not a fan of orange drinks, but this wasn't bad. It was waaaay sweeter than the fruit punch one though. I asked the tech and he said the fruit punch is only 50 grams of glucose and the orange drink is 100 grams. I had lunch straight after the test and then headed to work. By 2:30pm I was totally crashing from the sugar high. I felt like crap after that. Just super tired [and yet made it thru LOST]. But I never felt sick during the test. I got dizzy at one point but it went away.

I probably won't hear anything till next week. Last time they called on Tues. with my results [after a Thurs. test]. But I have my check-up next Thursday so they might just wait to tell me then.

I know that having Gestational Diabetes isn't all that bad, but still, you know? I'm worried.

Nursery

So I've been trying to decide on the bedding for Baby G so that I can figure out everything else [like the color scheme and such], but I'm having a hard time. I have narrowed it down to 2 and I need your help! These are 2 completely different beddings with completely different color schemes. I am partial to the first set. But G is not very geometrical and seems to only like stuff with animals. Like it's more boyish to him. I totally love both sets. But I'd like to hear some opinions. Here are the 2:

#1

#2

Both beddings cost about the same, BUT we could get 30% off #2 because it is from Baby Gap's new nursery line. So that's a plus. #1 would be purchased from Land of Nod [owned by Crate and Barrel]. I also still want a white crib, but G doesn't think it's very masculine. Do you think the Safari bedding would go with a dark wood crib? It wouldn't be too dark? Our home furnishings are all dark wood, but I like the white crib for babies. Please comment!

I've also been working on our registry and that shit is hard! There is so much!

And just for fun, these are the mobiles I am considering.

One of these 2 for bedding #1.

And this one for bedding #2.

Both mobiles are from moderntots.com

21 Weeks

The title should really be 22 weeks since I'm 21w6d.

Times have been busy so I've been slacking on the blog.

G and I have had a rally hard time thinking up boy names. I really only like one name so it's been hard for me to be open to more. And G is on this trip where he only seems to like "American" names. I really want a Latino name that won't get butchered by out families. But it seems, after a week of debates, that we have finally narrowed it down. Of course, I won! Our first pick is my original idea for a boy. But like I mentioned before, this baby won't be named till he's outta the womb. So don't ask! G & I are not open to discussion. Although, honestly, I highly doubt I'll be able to keep this little secret for 4 more months!

I've also been looking at boy bedding and nursery decor. Nursery....LOL....Mexicans don't have nurseries! I know...but this baby will! I love decor. Anyway, I have found a few that I like. I'm not really into the busy super colorful stuff that's out there. But G and I have managed to agree on a color scheme, and I have found a few sets with simple patterns. I'll post my top choices and let me know which you like. Not that it matters, but I'll take opinions on this one! :D

My top pick:

**I love everything about this room!

In the running [in order of preference]:

I'm also on the fence on furniture color. Just before finding out we were having a boy I had decided on white furniture for a girl. But I'm not sure about a boy. I really love the way the bedding looks in all the rooms above with the white furniture. I'm thinking of sticking to that original plan, but sometimes I still like the dark wood. I just don't know what it would look like with the bedding. If we do go with dark, here is an example I like:

This overall color scheme would totally match the rest of our home decor. And I absolutely love the mobile in the shot. Has anyone seen this before? I don't even remember who I stole this picture from.

So please comment and let me know what you think? This is harder than I thought. But I can't wait to get started!
